Group Classes, Private Training, Behavioral Rehabilitation & more! We offer solutions for all your training needs!

At Canine Creature Comforts, we specialize in understanding dog behavior. We have professionally certified trainers on staff with years of training experience, ready to help you & your dog achieve your goals together. We offer a variety of training services, all tailored to the individual dog and their human. Does your dog need to work on obedience skills? How about leash reactivity - barking at or becoming overly excited to see other dogs or people? Does your dog get anxious while you're away or become destructive? Does your puppy need to learn better manners? Do you need to better understand why your dog does the things he does? We can help!

We like to pave the way for success - whether it's for you, your dog, or even ourselves. We require even our non-trainer staff members to complete a thorough onboarding process, and each person is taught how to read dog body language and communicate with them appropriately in all situations. Therefore, we have an advantage when it comes to keeping the dogs in our care safe, happy and comfortable. We are also very well equipped to successfully handle and rehabilitate dogs with all kinds of issues - aggression, fear, anxiety, etc - the dogs that other facilities have turned away simply because they do not understand how to communicate with them effectively.

At CCC, we understand the differences between how humans and dogs interact and communicate with each other and with their environment. Knowing how dogs perceive the world around them is one of the most important factors in the relationships we build with our dogs. And we can teach you!

Canine Creature Comforts' training programs are some of the most comprehensive programs in the area. We offer a FREE evaluation of your dog in order to determine which training services will work best for them and your family. Socialization programs, group classes, private in-home training, as well as behavioral modification & rehabilitation programs are just some of what we offer at Canine Creature Comforts. Call or email us today at info@caninecreaturecomforts.com to discuss your training needs!

AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification

Canine Creature Comforts' trainers are also qualified to offer the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen (AKC CGC) evaluation to certify your dog with the CGC title

Group Classes Price= $235

Our group classes are geared towards building & improving foundational obedience skills, as well as understanding how to properly socialize your dog. Whether you have a new puppy or an older dog who is new to your family, this is a great place to start! If your dog learns how to behave appropriately in different situations, then you'll be more likely to take them places with you. And if your dog gets to participate positively in more activities with you, that means a happier dog and happier humans!

Basic Manners- Level 1 Obedience Class (6 weeks)

Prerequisites = None     Dog Age Restriction = None

Curriculum provides instruction on all foundational commands (sit, down, stay, come, leave it, etc)
Highlights importance of socialization and how-to in real life situations
Offers solutions for common issues, such as pulling on leash, nipping, and jumping

Level 2 Obedience Class (6 weeks)

Prerequisites = New Beginnings (Level 1)   Dog Age Restriction = None

In Level 2, we expand on the skills learned in the Level 1 course. We will incorporate games and group distraction drills to proof our obedience and leash walking skills, so your dog learns how to listen and focus better in the presence of more distraction and temptation.

Level 3 Obedience Class (6 weeks)

Prerequisites = Up to & including Level 2  Dog Age Restriction = None

In our Level 3 class, we build on the skills learned throughout the previous courses. We practice more advanced obedience and focus by incorporating Rally-O games and new exercises. We also spend some time going for outings where you & your dog can practice applying these skills in real life situations.

Canine Good Citizen Class (6 weeks)

Prerequisites = Up to & including Level 3

In the CGC class, we will prepare you & your dog for the CGC evaluation by walking through the explanation and practice of all requirements of the AKC CGC test. The final class includes testing for the CGC title. Canine Creature Comforts is certified by the AKC to provide the CGC testing and title upon successful completion.

*Space can be limited, so you must register at least 24 hours in advance for each class you wish to take. Class registration can be completed on our website, or by contacting us by phone or email. Because the optimal socialization window is so short for puppies, we recommend not waiting too long between classes. The six classes must be completed within ten weeks, and all class fees are non-refundable.

Private Classes

PRIVATE TRAINING SESSIONS

For dogs who need more individualized attention, we offer private training sessions at our facility, in your home, and on-location (at a park, neighborhood, urban area, etc). Our private sessions are designed to give you insight into recognizing the real source of your dog's behavior, as well as solutions tailored to meet the needs of you & your dog. We provide you with valuable tools you can use to create and maintain structure in your home, improve your relationship with your dog, and allow them the opportunity to understand what exactly is expected of them. Please contact us for more information on pricing and scheduling.

DOG SOCIALIZATION TRAINING

Some of our dogs need extra help to be able to attend daycare. They may be too shy or insecure to fit in right away, or maybe they just aren’t sure how to do the whole “dog thing”. We can help! We have successfully integrated countless dogs into our daycare environment – dogs who would have been turned away from other facilities. A daycare evaluation is required to determine if your dog is a candidate for this type of training. Please contact us in advance to schedule an evaluation.

SLEEPOVER BEHAVIORAL BOOTCAMP

We believe there are two types of training – obedience training and behavioral training. Obedience training is teaching your dog to 'obey' a command – sit, stay, come, etc. Behavioral training is working with a dog to improve their overall 'behavior' – lunging, biting, fearfulness, etc.

A common mistake made by many owners and trainers is trying to use obedience to change behavior. A good example of this is asking a dog who lunges and barks at other dogs while on leash to 'sit' and take treats while a strange dog is passing. A small percentage of dogs will be able to do this, but most dogs are so interested in the passing dog, they totally ignore the treat and their human.

Many dog owners find themselves dealing with behavior problems beyond the scope of typical "disobedience". Some of these out-of-control behaviors include, but aren’t limited to leash aggression, dog on dog aggression, dog on people aggression, territorial guarding, resource guarding, separation anxiety, extreme fearfulness, wariness or shyness. When a dog exhibits behavior problems, not only is the owner-dog relationship compromised, but the dog becomes a safety liability. Dogs do not "outgrow" true behavior problems like those mentioned here; instead, these behaviors tend to escalate, especially in the period from adolescence to adulthood (6 months to 3 years). Younger dogs can usually be rehabilitated more easily, so it is wise to address behavior issues as soon as they arise. To rehabilitate dogs with behavior problems, Canine Creature Comforts offers Sleepover Behavioral Bootcamp. Our trainers have decades of combined experience working with dogs that exhibit a variety of behavior problems. Many local veterinarians, breeders, and rescues refer their clients to us. Our trainers approach each dog as an individual, taking time to build a bond of trust and respect, and employ balanced training methods that help each dog learn to approach and respond to situations in a new, appropriate way. A training evaluation will allow us to evaluate your dog and recommend a customized program. Please contact us in advance to schedule a training evaluation.
